Host a Food Drive

Thank you for your interest in hosting a food drive for the Duluth Co-op!  Food drives are a great way to raise awareness about hunger in our community.  We rely on food drives organized by schools, churches, businesses, civic groups and neighborhoods to keep our pantry shelves stocked.  Without this support we would not be able to serve all those in need.

Checklist for conducting a food drive:

  1. Decide who will participate in the food drive.
  2. Determine the collection timeframe for the drive and where donations should be dropped off.
  3. Consider having a theme for the food drive to build excitement, some ideas are listed below.
  4. Create a flyer and communication plan to get the word out. There are many free templates online to get you started.
  5. Make a plan to deliver donations to the Co-op during Co-op hours M.W.F. 9:30 am – 2 pm. We are unable to accept donations when the pantry is closed.

Other Things to Know:

  • We are happy to sign off on service hours for the time you took to conduct the food drive – this is a great way to earn Beta Club credit and hours for other service organizations!
  • To be safe, please collect donations in small boxes or totes. If you are conducting a large food drive for your business, you can borrow food barrels from the Co-op.
  • We do not accept expired food.
  • If you would like to include the Duluth Co-op Logo on your marketing materials please email info@duluthco-op.org.
  • Tag us on Facebook at Hands of Christ: Duluth Cooperative Ministry so we can all see your hard work!
